Saturday 18 February 2012: Goodbye Dylan...

722/365: ... wrote Felix in painstakingly tricksy writing (not least because he doesn't know how to write yet and had to have every letter explained to him let alone spelled out!). And drew a picture of our friend's dog because that was the main thing he was sad about leaving behind when it came to going home today!

Back blips for:
Saturday 11th Feb - sunset surfers
Sunday 12th Feb - dune dithering
Monday 13th Feb - soggy doggy
Tuesday 14th Feb - slurpy drinking
Wednesday 15th Feb - dramatic Devon
Thursday 16th Feb - boardwalk scenery
Friday 17th Feb - giggly frog face
(which I wrote while I was away rather than remembered now if you're wondering!)

Anyway, Dylan the dog was a big hit with Felix. He did this picture last night to give to Rachel and Richard because he was so sad about saying goodbye. He went 'Maddy has Poppy to see when she gets home... and... *gulp*... I won't have Dylan...'. And then there were lots of tears.

Today has been a l-o-o-o-o-o-ong day. Packing up our stuff from the cottage this morning, ramming the car full of our stuff, doing some last minute laundry... then off up the road to say a last goodbye to Rachel (and drink tea, naturally)... and finally on the road to go to Gloucestershire to stop by and say hello to my Mum.

Two hours of driving in hideous rain was no fun, so stopping off for some lunch with Mum was definitely needed. Plus, it meant that we had something for the children to look forward to (getting spoiled by Grandma) which made it just a teensy bit easier to prise them away from Devon! We ended up leaving there at about half three... and home by six.

Which means we're pooped!

What a flippin' lovely holiday though. The very nicest thing was getting to spend time with one another and with our friends. We're very blessed, y'know.

PS Had a mini blub at getting home
PPS Not cuz I'm sad to get home particularly, but the thought of not having that delicious amount of time with everyone for a while... well... *sniffles*
