Monday 20 February 2012: A Squabble
Maple Lake is swarming with squabbling swans. A quick count came up with 24 - and only one definite couple, who was there last year and had 7 babies. It seems all the others are on the prowl, or just in a REALLY bad mood. There was much display of feathers and high speed chases, and the girls were coyly chewing on lake lettuce, pretending not to notice. I'm going back later this week armed with more battery and maybe some vittles so I can lure them a little closer and THEN let them fight it out ;)
For today, this is the best I could do.
