Frank Slide

Hello Calgary!

I flew into Calgary today. One of my subscriptions is a Calgarian (In the moment) and I told her I'd wave on my way through. I did. I hope she saw me ;) There are quite a few other Calgarian blippers, one even uses the airport code as his blip url but sadly, he appears to be a lapsed blipper :(. There are many others such as this fellow with the most un-Calgarian name of Cwrw Croyw.

I'm on my way to Fernie, one of Canada's great ski resorts, with my two eldest. We've never been to Fernie and have always hoped to get there one day. This is the day!

Yahoo! Another ski trip.

I am a very lucky man.

And a wanna be ski bum :D

Oh, the Frank Slide - a very tragic moment in history. In April 1903 this mountain had been seriously compromised by coal mining. At around 4am one morning this half of the mountain let go and slid into the town below killing about 90 people. Must have been a horrific moment. All the boulders and debris from the slide has been left and can be clearly seen as one drives by. I might have shown that (the boulders, etc) but I love the dramatic sky in this image.
