Tuesday 21 February 2012: Milestone
Carrying on a similar theme to my blip of last Thursday I spotted this milestone complete with cut mark on the top.
The stone is right alongside the A6 a couple of miles North of Preston within a hundred yards of a pub that has closed down (are you spotting another theme here?) In fairness the pub has been converted into an Indian restaurant rather than accommodation.
The stone is in quite good condition, I suppose that it because it is right outside someones house. The side you can see says 'To Garstang 4 3/4 Miles', the other face says ' To Preston 6 Miles' at the bottom it says 'Barton' (the village / parish).
