The mooring ring

There used to be a race course near where i live called Hurst Park Race Course.

I think that the last race took place in 1959 and everything got knocked down (I think that the grandstand went to a Midland Football Club)

There are a pair of huge gates to close a road off and this mooring ring which is all that is left. I assume that the pleasure boats would travel up to the races and tie up on the wharf using this ring.

As with other items by the river it isn't always visible apart from the winter when the undergrowth dies down.

I like the detail here with the leaves etc and the lack of any wear and tear on the ring
