Life, not as we see it.

Fish 'n Sticks

Planning on eating these tonight. The near ones are covered in salt and grilled, and are delicious. The darker, further away chaps are the catfish mentioned yesterday, and with which we still have to come to terms.
Had a great day out today on a scooter. Went to Tiger Cave Temple complex which comprised a work in progress huge pointy structure and several other shrines. We contributes alms to the monks and were given good luck stringy bracelets. The various shrines were attended by female monks (?) who were all very serene and strangely beautiful with their shaven heads and white robes. There was a 1250 step stairway to the top of a mountain, but we did'nt feel up to that so we took a donner through a jungle trail instead. Wow! Thick jungle undergrowth and huge trees with strange flange like buttresses. Caves with stalactites (mites) and shrines deep therein. Dotted about were small huts and blocked off caves where the Saffron robed monks took refuge from the hustle & bustle of 21st century life.
Back to reality and off to the beach for a roasting. (Nothing compared to the roasting I got later for riding without my helmet - but it was worth it - warm wind in your hair, Easy Rider on your mind . . . . )
Really too hot to sit out. Glad of the odd cloud to take the sting out of the fierce sun.
Moving on tomorrow to Surat Thani, a small working town & port on the east coast, from where we will catch the S'pore - KL - Bangkok sleeper and thence to Chiang Mai by day train. Might be out of touch for a couple of days.
