We went out to see Amanda's new house today, which is very nice (or will be when it's finished). Over the road was a park which we went to explore. This picturesque folly was one of the attractions.

It hasn't actually fallen down; it is the portico from the Italian Mansion of Linthouse apparently, and was erected in the park in 1921. It's looking a bit the worse for wear now.

We also went to the swings, which were in much better repair. But as soon as Alexander got in the swing, he asked to get out again. I couldn't work out why until I turned round and saw a couple of teenage girls on a zip-slide. He proceeded to climb up the ramp and have a chat with them, while trying to work out how to get on the seat, which was a good foot above his head.

I don't know how long this fearless confidence lasts, but it's certainly entertaining! As we led him away he kept looking back wistfully.
