Tuesday 28 February 2012: Back by popular demand
Or, to be more precise, neck. That has been the problem, causing me to wake up with excruciating headaches every morning. My neck feels as though it has some sort of massive kink in it, rather similar to (but sadly not as elegant as!) a swan's neck. Unusual, considering that I actually have rather a short neck. But definitely unpleasant, as having a headache all day is not particularly conducive to doing anything very much.
So today, I ventured back to the magical Chiropractor in Richmond that I last visited (according to his records) in January 2009. He told me that he has recently been learning quite a bit about the physiology of migraine, which I found encouraging. He also explained that because I have had flu and become tired, both physically and mentally, my brain may have stopped sending the usual messages to my neck about supporting my head which has allowed my neck to become strained (or something...)
Anyway, he did various adjustments and I left the consulting rooms after half an hour feeling a great deal better. Fingers crossed, I have had neither a headache nor a stiff neck all day, so I hope that going to bed tonight (which always seems to be where the problems start) will be OK.
Jonathan and my mother-in-law came round for lunch when I get back, the latter bringing one of the most enormous cucumbers that I have ever seen, from her garden. She also tried to give me some more beans but I already have more than enough in the fridge/garden.... and Immy doesn't even like beans so they are starting to defeat me! Rumour has it that my husband may have booked a flight out here for about ten days' time, in which case he can help me with the bean mountain. Thinking back to that W.B. Yeats poem that I blipped a couple of weeks ago, The Lake Isle of Innisfree, I'm not actually sure that I would plant nine bean rows there. I now suspect that they might provide me with a surfeit of beans were I to be living 'alone, in the bee-loud glade.'
My sister and daughter (non-blippers), MamaFi and Inez have all beseeched me to start blipping again so I have made a special effort tonight, but I apologise that this is not a very exciting blip. I have tried to take photos of something every day over the past week so I will be able to back-blip, purely for continuity, over the next few days.
