Tuesday 28 February 2012: Happy bees
Today was one of those very rare days when there is not a breath of wind, and not a cloud in the sky. The temperature was a balmy 19 degrees -- a day when you could envy those people who were out pruning vines (a very popular activity today). Kind EDF arranged an unannounced 2-hour power cut this afternoon. Well, not completely unannounced -- it was the third power cut of the day, it just went on a lot longer than the others. What better excuse to give up work and go out for a walk?
I blipped this year's first almond blossom over a month ago. The big freeze soon knocked that premature optimism on the head. But in the last couple of days, a good two weeks later than usual, the almond trees in the vineyards have almost all come into full flower. Happy bees were buzzing around the trees. I even saw a lone butterfly. Spring is on its way!
