Wednesday 29 February 2012: mantis wing

Unlike the pollen drunk bees on the grevilleas and red cap eucalypts, this praying mantis was not quite so keen on having a camera lens poked in its face.

About 10 cm long and hobbling along the barbecue lid...poor thing had a damaged front leg..the wings unfurled like big pink sails in a 'leave me alone' warning.
