Connel Bridge, Argyll

The village of Connel near Oban is divided by Loch Etive. At one of the loch's narrowest points stands the landmark Connel Bridge, joining the two halves of the village and carrying the A828. It was built in 1903 as a railway bridge; a roadway was added alongside the railway line in 1914. When the railway closed in the 1960's the bridge was converted to vehicle and pedestrian use. Always a welcome sight on driving to Oban, almost there.Today I snapped the bridge looking vaguely north instead of towards the sea, almost high tide so no Falls of Lora to be seen.
You should have had a pic of a barnacle bottomed boat but Somebody had sneakily scraped off most of the wavy fronds of seaweed and some of the barnacles since I was there Tuesday. Knew I should have blipped it then! On the other hand, I hadn't known of this viewpoint for the bridge until I stopped to photograph the boat! The weather is still murky as you can see, but FINE, and keeps teasing us with teeny tiny glimmers.
