Wednesday 29 February 2012: Bank of England in the City of London
The Bank of England had been designed by Sir John Soane and was considered a masterpiece. This building was demolished by Sir Herbert Baker who built the current edifice.
This was described by Pevsner as "the greatest architectural crime, in the City of London, of the twentieth century."
