Monday 22 June 2009: Yellowheaded Blackbird
We had driven to a lake area and on the way back to the main road came across a wide expanse of bullrushes - on the way out had seen a couple of guys with some serious looking photographic equipment trudging across the marshy ground (you know the type - lenses that could capture a fly landing on the moon!!!) - so I knew there was something to see - anyway, all of a sudden, flashes of black and yellow everywhere.
Had to stop the car, grabbed the camera and waited - wooooooo all these beautiful birds landing and taking off, pecking at bullrush heads, twittering and preening - here we have one of them! (oh for the long lens again .... >sigh<)
This is for you, RDC!
