Friday 2 March 2012: The Waverley Paddle Steamer
The Waverley is the only remaining sea-going paddle steamer in the world.
Increased running costs had meant that the 2011 summer season could have been the last for the Clyde-built Waverley.
However it will be kept afloat for at least another year thanks to a donation from Euromillions winners Chris and Colin Weir.
The Weirs from Largs in Ayrshire, won a record £161m on the EuroMillions Lottery and have made a number of generous gestures some of which have been reported in the press.
I fully intend to do similar things when I win the big one myself.
