Friday 2 March 2012: Spring Flowers
The contorted hazel catkins are mature now, reaching 8 cms long and blowing prettily in the breeze. These are the male flowers.
The female flowers are much smaller, around 0.5cm with a red tuft on the top.
My tree is several years old and I am ashamed to admit that I saw these for the first time today.
