Friday 2 March 2012: E is for...Entertainment (Rammstein style)
This is my 'E' entry for pontycyclops' alphabet challenge.
Another awesome night watching Rammstein, this time at the Nottingham Arena. Whereas Stacey and I had seated tickets for the London O2 arena last Friday and were at the opposite end of the venue to the stage, Colin, Rob and I had standing tickets for Nottingham. We positioned ourselves about halfway down the floor and at the edge and, despite the odd tall person (not that tall people bother Colin, who is a giant compared to shortarse me), actually had a reasonably good view.
I cannot emphasise strongly enough how good Rammstein's gigs are. It's not just a band on stage singing but a complete show - a spectacular if you will. They may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I don't think anyone would walk away and say they wasted their money on a ticket. Today's blip is three band members breathing fire...see what I mean?! I've sorted through my photos from both gigs and have uploaded a selection to a set on Flickr. They're not the best, as they're a mixture from my iPhone and old Fuji, but you'll get the gist and it is worth having a peek if you have time. Going to put three videos snippets up on FB at some point too...
After the gig, Rob, Colin and I joined another couple of friends, Kirsty and Dave, and some of Kirsty's twitter friends, who she'd met up with for the first time at the gig. We had a few drinks in their hotel bar before heading off home. I had a scary 2-hour drive cross-country on wending and winding roads in thick fog. Visibility was down to about 10' at some points and I scarcely made it above 30mph the whole way home. I was very pleased indeed to pull up on our driveway.
