Sunday 4 March 2012: Excuse me while I chit ..

These tiny little shoots will soon grow - this process is called chitting. I can then plant the potatoes to grow into some fabulous British Queen (dating back to 1894) and Yetholm Gypsy (dating back to 1899) potatoes.

Isn't it a fab time of year?

Any local readers might like to know about Tattie Day being held in Balerno on 10 March 10 to 2 pm. You can get seed potatoes and plenty of advice on growing.
