Mangy Fox

This is possibly one of the foxes that was raised from the hole in our garden last April. Unfortunately it's got a bad case of mange - Sarcoptic Mange to be accurate, but help is at hand in the form of Youngshanks.

Seeing the state of the fox he investigated the internet for a cure and came across The National Fox Welfare Society who send out a treatment, free of charge, to householders willing to feed foxes that are suffering from this condition.

So every night Youngshanks puts out a jam sandwich (foxes love sweet things - cats don't) cut into 12-15 tiny pieces with a drop on each piece, containing the treatment. Hopefully after roughly three/four weeks of treatment the fox should be scratching and biting less, and eventually new hair will grow back.

In today's photo he's helping himself to three pieces at once, so obviously enjoying the treatment.
