Sunday 4 March 2012: Great blues

A very grey and blustery day. H and I went to the Urban Horticulture Center again looking for the shot of 40 (or 53, like someone else reported!) herons atop the UW Gym. Well, not be be, today. Twenty or so were mostly hunkered down with some shelter in front of the gym in this grass. I especially love the color and textures of all the grasses with a few (7!) herons thrown in for contrast. We saw shovelers, wood ducks, gadwalls, wigeons, green winged teals, goldeneyes (both), mallards, cormorants, and more that we most likely couldn't identify. It's a pleasant walk - but better with less wind. I'll go back for the gym shot sometime...
