Monday 5 March 2012: New and improved

The Student Services building reopened several weeks ago after extensive work following last February's earthquake.

A building from the orginal '60s and '70s school of Stalinist architecture, it's had a makeover inside and out. Outside it's a blend of original lines with contemporary cladding and wood. It works.

I haven't been inside yet. I hesitatied but continued my return trip to the other side of campus to my office. Surviving the cold wind was my main priority. I was overly optimistic about today's weather (the story of my summer dressing).

Yesterday's Gum Trees if you're interested.

I'll just wave my want across the bomb site in the kitchen and I'll be back.
