Breaking the Ice

I was pedalling away up Bents Lane, thinking my morning thoughts, in my head when thankfully some early warning system reminded me of the spring which has a habit of springing all over the road on the tricky, hill, windy, bendy bit. Just in time I stopped before I hit the sheet of totally unexpected ice. Then later on beyond Harecroft I reached the BIG puddle, which always seems to be there. It was quite pretty because the spray from the cars had frozen on the grass at either side of the road, but lethal to me on my pushbike so once more I had to get off and push..the bike. I did feel sorry for the horses in this field having to break the ice for drinking water.
