Grape Hyacinth

I spent hours today trying to leave my imprint on this spot that has been lent to me for awhile. Weeding, pulling, trimming, shaping. And still the hyacinths come and go as they please.

We used to have dozens and dozens of these tiny blue plants, scattered throughout various beds and under trees. Every spring I would look forward to their reliable display. And then suddenly one year there were none. They've been gone for awhile. This year I've seen a handful here and there. Gardens are such a mystery...a lesson in letting go that I have not yet learned.
