Tuesday 6 March 2012: Limestone Seal.
Wee trip up to Waikari this morning and on the way home I thought I would stop and take a photo of Frog Rock in the Weka Pass.
Ive lived in this area all my life and didn't have one ... how hard could it be ..... get one now I say .... wasn't happy with it so here you have the Seal instead.
Cant say I'm that happy with this either ... never mind.
The Waipara River cut Weka Pass by wearing down the soft limestone and mudstone in the area. Erosion has created a number of distinctive limestone formations in the pass the Seal and the Frog are now the most recognizable , as children we use to know more but they have now eroded away. ( Not that I can remember what they were now )
