the edges of my life

By raej

it sort of went like this...

Mausi was trying to have a siesta on the swing and Bubu was wrestling with Zebedee very nearby but couldnt resist jumping on Mausi and throwing her on the ground every now and then while Leika nearby delicately smelt the claws on her front paw and I wondered how is it that bears can fall off swings with another bear on top and just laugh? and that makes me think of drop bears (any of you heard of those strange mythological australian beasties?) and off I go on a tangent while Bubu and Zebedee and Mausi hurl each other around and laugh and Leika continues to 'smell the roses' .....
Mausi was rescued as a cub being smuggled across the border and has never known a wild life outside the first few weeks before her mother was killed - she is a very pretty bear with a white snip down her nose....
Bubu is only 10 but has a serious heart condition and skeletal problems (from his years in a bile cage) but he lives each day to the fullest and with his meds on board can wrestle and love life, he looks like a wombat with a slightly bare bottom....
Zebedee had his face smashed in by a 2 x 4 when he was a cub and was then kept in a tiny cage in a family kitchen (for his bile) until rescued by us a few years ago, after extensive dental work he has very few teeth left and his tongue hangs out one side of his mouth because of the damaged bone... but Zebedee loves life now...
and Leika loves food and smelling the roses.... she is very round.... she is not in this photo but I promise one soon
so these bears make me smile and help with the hangover and tears from yesterday's loss - Rajani a beautiful bear rescued only a few months ago who never got to wrestle and lie in the sun and smell the roses
