Wednesday 7 March 2012: Indian Mongoose

You have to look really close to see him as he is well hidden in the pile of leaves near the bay here in Kona Hawaii! I went down to watch the birds and instead found a mongoose! Introduced in the late 1800's to help control rats in the sugar cane fields, they are now another pest which destroys the bird population by eating the bird eggs. Another lesson to be learned;)
