Wednesday 7 March 2012: Days like this...
740/365: ... hold-ups, horrid rain, hideous driving conditions, hateful office contraptions and headaches.
Actually, it seems to have been a day of contrasts rather than all being grim and grizzly. Sure, the weather was weird as I drove home - bright sunshine, fluffy white clouds, sudden darkness, sideways rain, hail, sleet, drizzle... and every traffic announcement on the radio seemed to pinpoint some other bit of atrociousness on my journey home. Gah!
The printer at work is also possessed by the devil. It ate several documents forcing me to practically climb inside the flippin' thing to pull out random bits of partially printed and fully stuck paper. It wasn't even fun stuff I was printing. Just stuff I needed to read. But every time I cleared it... it jammed again. Y'know, when they installed the card swipe thing on it recently they should also have installed a panel to the bottom right hand side so you could kick it really hard when it failed to do what you wanted. Gah again!!!
The good bits, however, were properly good. For example, I had a meeting which reminded me of all that I love about working for universities. Getting to chat to interesting, interested, engaging people about ideas is a treat.
Getting home after the mammoth crappy commute, the kids were in the basement 'making stuff' (where stuff = a mess!) and generally content. No dramas in the street tonight and not even too much grumping. Oh, and a miracle happened too... Maddy has a part in a play at school and gets to speak a line! And... she's really looking forward to it too! I know that doesn't sound much of a 'thing', but this is my Maddy Moo. My 'sit on your lap while all the other children are joining in with everything, cry if you think you have to join in' Maddy Moo. Just cannot get over the change in her this last year. It's like she's finally found confidence in herself.
Yeah, that also counts as the good stuff!
PS Can't shake that low feeling though
PPS Don't really know why...
