You can always count on cats and magnolias for an emergency blip. I can't get enough of these amazing blossoms, which are all over town these days, from these delicate dancers to heavy round globes as big as your face. Short trees, tall trees, lanky or squat, carefully shaped or wildly criss-crossy. Mostly pink, some white, and one lovely pale yellow that we pass on the way to the park.
