Thursday 8 March 2012: Instrumental
My dad played this clarinet at school, then my cousin learnt on it, then I did. It's wood and the cork is all crumbling. I wonder if it can be restored? I wonder if I will ever play it or another clarinet again?
I wanted to learn the clarinet to be able to play guess what? I am not very musical. I can do it but in a mechanical way. I don't feel it, not the way I do with visual things. And there is only so much that one can be good at that takes practice. There's only so much practice time in life. So I gave it up after school with a brief daliance that I hardly remember of trying to take it up again when I was 25 ish.
But I haven't mentioned (dear readers) that I will soon be finishing work (26 April). My contract comes to an end and I plan to have some time off for creative endeavours. How exciting is that? Who knows what old talents I may rekindle or what new things may take my fancy.
Got myself into an over-treatment dilemma with this one. Straight from camera it looks quite nice as the case is brown, the velvet almost a Klein blue and the metal bits shiny against the black. But then when I went into the black and white and antique effects, it got into a whole new area of yumminess. Then of course I couldn't decide which I liked best. I do have other things to do today. It's such an issue when one gets too perfectionist about blip, it can suck away a big chunk of time and that 's without even going into the commenting arena!
