Thursday 8 March 2012: Manor Farm

This is the farm house and farm that was given the tenancy , by the 18th century naturalist and explorer Sir Joseph Banks, to his loyal servant James Roberts who accompanied him around the world in the ship 'Endeavour' led by Captain Cook. Sir Joseph Banks was one of the main instigators and developer of Kew Gardens where plants and trees from around the world are grown and displayed in the grounds and hot houses. Banks and his 'man' collected plants and seeds from all the various places that the 'Endeavour ' called and brought them back to England.
