Thursday 8 March 2012: Bad King John
Everyone in Worcester today has been keen to tell us that Bad King John is buried in the cathedral. We were looking at the ruin of St Andrew's Church and a very helpful council workman gave us a potted history of the town, the Civil War, Elgar and of course Bad King John. The guide in the Cathedral was also learned on its history but I completely foxed him with one question, the subject of my blip. Why are Bad King John's feet resting on what looks like a mythical creature, and why is the point of his sword in its mouth?! Answers on a postcard please.
We can recommend the Ginger Pig for lunch in Worcester, very friendly and delicious home-made food.
Tomorrow we walk in the Malverns! Watch out for postcards trevorearthy and itchythumbs!
