Thursday 8 March 2012: Buckets Of...Mud
As I promised yesterday, we have rescued some frogspawn from the pond-that-isn't, so Bramble had to make sure we're doing it right.
Now I am a proud fostercarer, with these buckets assorted containers of collected rainwater, each nursing a blob of spawn. I've read the instructions from the web about regularly changing the water and feeding but I am hoping to offload pass most of it on to someone local with a garden pond, so the frogs feel they belong hereabouts and return to their origins next year. Hopefully, by that time they will have a real pond in which to perform their courtship display.
There is still a considerable amount of spawn on the site but I doubt that any of it will mature, so this is about the only hope this year's brood has of survival.
