cherish what remains

I have been coming to Chicago to attend the International Home and Housewares Show for 13 years. It is always wonderful to spend time in this great Midwestern city. As Carl Sandberg wrote:

Hog Butcher for the World,
Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat,
Player with Railroads and the Nation's Freight Handler;
Stormy, husky, brawling,
City of the Big Shoulders?

Today I took a walk in the brisk but sunny afternoon, crossing Michigan Avenue at the Chicago river bridge on my way to Nordstorm to run and errand for my mother.

The tradition is to dye the Chicago River green for St. Patrick's Day. That won't happen until next week.
