Monday 12 March 2012: three's a crowd
A trio of Red Tailed Black Cockatoos perched very high in a eucalypt at the 'very hot weather' park the hound and I walk in on scorching days.
The male has the bright red tail feathers while the female has the more subtle red, tan and black striped feathers. They are big, bossy and incredibly noisy and this stand of trees was chockers with pairs of red tailed black cockies.
I can only think they are pairing up for the breeding season and this male is hedging his bets with these two gorgeous 'birds'.
