Monday 12 March 2012: Houses of Wilmington #11

The Honnet House (1881)

Located on what is called Sunset Hill, this house is at 322 Front Street. It was built by a jeweler, George Honnet. He began the construction only to have the frame blow away in a hurricane in 1881. The Greek Revival porches and columns were added in 1915 by Mr. Honnet's son. The house continues to be occupied by family descendants. Pictures of this house were used on the cover of Moore Paint Company brochures.

If you view this house in large, you will notice, as I have over the past several years, that the house looks closed up, like it isn't used all the time.

It was such a beautiful morning, I walked in the downtown area, took some pictures, and posted a small collection of the Signs of Wilmington
