The swan represents the soft downey nature of the feathers used to make pillows etc in the 19th Century. Mainly Goose down rather than Swan. Now turned into apartments.
There is a Green Lane that comes intoBoston from the North along which men and women drove sheep, cattle, flocks of geese and other birds to market
