Tuesday 13 March 2012: The art of busy...
746/365: ... all those people. All so purposeful. All so. Well. Busy.
And me - I always feel like a complete and utter scruff bag when I go to London. Which, if I didn't say, is where I've been today to attend an event (on the holistic mapping of assessment... no... no... it was interesting... come back... honestly... it was...)
Anyhoo... going to London is flipping exhausting. Fortunately a friend of mine was also going to the same event, so we chatted all the way down on the train and three hours later were at the venue - the University of Greenwich - whose campus is at the old Naval College on the Thames. And VERY fancy it is too! I would have loved to be able to spend the day just taking photos, but instead, you get a quick snap as we went back to get the train to St. Pancras and that was about it.
Oh, and my friend got told off for taking a photo of a sign with his mobile phone. 'Because of terrorism', he was told. 'But that's ridiculous', he said. 'Well, the terrorists might find out the layout of the college and the security risk is very high', he blustered. Despite the fact that you can download a map of the campus on their website. 'I'm not saying you can't take photos', the man continued, 'but I'm asking you not to take photos'. 'Ka-a-a-a-ay...
Mad, huh?
Once the event was done, we headed back across London via Docklands Light Rail, Tube and then back on the train. Where two guys were having the most arrogantly clichéd conversation ever which was hilarious to listen in to. The conversation flipped between IT and rugby. And was all about 'me' (where 'me' was one of the blokes). I think my favourite line was, 'I was really hurt. It was so bad I could hardly type'. Awwww, bless! I don't think it's the done thing to blatantly laugh at overhead conversations though so internal giggling only for most of the way home!
PS Tomorrow - back to the daily driving commute
PPS But tonight... bed. *yawns dramatically*
