Thursday 15 March 2012: memorial
Today I headed down to the big smoke for an appointment with the much hunted osteopath...as rare in WA it would seem as the Tassie Tiger is in Tas. Well worth the hunting!!
Afterwards I lazed by the Swan River and on such a beautiful day spent some time at King's Park which overlooks the city and river. Lying back on a grassy bank, watched a pelican... I kid you not...ride the thermals from the river to heady heights above the tallest skyscraper in the cbd.
Sobering amongst the seeming calm and peace is this memorial. In simple granite and bronze it names those from Western Australia who died in the 2002 and 2005 'Bali Bombings' that shook the core of Australia's sense of isolation and untouchability (if there is such a word) in this big, wide, angry world.
