Sgwarnog: In the Field

Theatre in the Mill

Sandwiched between a foggy morning and a nebulous, grey afternoon was a sunny lunchtime, with some swirling cirrus formations draped across the sky.

Strolling across campus to pick up a sandwich, I noticed how the willows that stand along West Brook and at the bottom of the amphitheatre were the first trees to really show a green tinge, even if this effect is only a result of thousands of tiny buds just beginning to unfurl.

The winter sun is still low enough to cast long shadows in the middle of the day, and huddled up against a tree trunk I can hide my own shadow, and enjoy the dark branches creeping out across the grass toward Theatre in the Mill.

bright willow buds
announcing the spring
but the shadow
of winter
is still strong

Off to That London tomorrow, so expect a blip from the King's Cross-Euston axis.
