Red dragon

I decided that it was time to get back on the horse and do an insect blip, so I rode down to the common to see what was available. Shock and horror! The strimmers have been at it again and only about a 15 yard square of natural vegetation remains, so it is looking like this is the last blip from the common.

Things were not looking good for an insect blip. I wandered around the small patch of land and other than a few hoppers and pansy butterflies, I just was not seeing anything, certainly nothing worth a blip. I spotted this dragon after I had made the decision to go find a smiley face. It really felt like the blip monster was throwing me a line, allowing me to get up to minimum focus distance.

This dragon is a different species to the red dragon that I have posted from this location, but I have blipped it from the grove, 16th and 24th October. Looking back on those early shots, it is plain to see that my insect photography skills have advanced a tad.

I was very pleased with the result, but now I have to get off my ass and find a new source of insect blips. In the meantime, there is so much more material here that I have not yet covered, like scenery, flowers and so on, so I am certainly not running dry just yet.
