Sunday 31 August 2008: Knocking on 40
Even if he hasn't reached that woeful age himself, strange things start happening to a man after he's attended his first fortieth birthday party.
The first thing he does is buy a sprinkler for his lawn.
The second thing he does is play techno really loudly while working on his own in the office at the weekend and takes 30 minutes to realise that the speaking in the background shouldn't really be there and is only there because he forgot to switch off Radio 4 before starting the album.
The only worry is that these things tend to come in threes.
