Bee Kind To Nature

The delightful Mr and Mrs hcalibrarian came to collect our frogspawn as arranged, we were so pleased that it has gone to a good home in Saughton Allotments. The many thanks were entirely mutual.

After that we hoped to walk along the old railway line starting from Auchendinny but the Dalmore Mill site, being now under construction, has blocked off the access. Maybe this will be reinstated when the development is complete. As it was we wandered by the Glencorse Burn, that flows into the North Esk close by, while we considered the alternatives. As a compensation Mr Flum walked into we found a pond there and took some duckweed for our Makeshift Tadpool (an upturned step).

Proceded, via a visit to B&S, to Roslin Glen carpark for a walk along the river and roound the castle. The wild garlic (Ramsons) is growing profusely all over the area, B&S have cooked with it very successfully. It's good to see that there are several birdboxes and these bee refuges in the trees.

Being gluttons for punishment, and as we heard a forecast of frost tonight, Miss Flum and I have rescued some fresh frogspawn which will be kept in a new large seed tray as a Better Makeshift Tadpool, the equivalent of 'barn' versus 'battery' tadpoles, perhaps.
