The Day That's In It

I've never had much time for the Paddy's Day parade. Always remembered being taken to it as a child: brass bands, huge commercial 'floats', diesel fumes and rain. The floats are better these days, some of them very inventive; more like a circus really, which is how it should be. But the reason for it is still an anathema to me. I'm Irish, and pleased to be so. But it's no more than an accident of birth (or upbringing in my case, since I was actually born in London and brought over when three). But most of the punters seemed happy enough, and I was happy to be able to photograph them.
