Built with Bird Muck

William and George Gibbs made their fortune from guano shipped from South America.

I probably would have failed to spot that niche in the business environment so all credit to them for exploiting it.

It's a marvellous house, big, grand but also quite homely inside. The fact that it has been left pretty much as it was when Richard Gibbs, 2nd Baron Wraxall, died in 2001 makes it all the more interesting.

We sat outside and had a picnic overlooking the empty boating pond. It was cold despite the occasional appearance of the sun.

Other bits and bobs can be found here.

Apologies again for a lack of commenting. Work and life has been busy recently - I feel a bit washed out.

Need to get back on the running..
