Monday 19 March 2012: Opera in the Market

Not the best shot tonight, but a very nice subject. Tonight my family, plus bro and sis' significant others, and my good friend Hev, went to see Mum and Sis singing in the chorus in Opera Australia's Opera in the Market concert, performing a number of arias from different operas, accompanied by a beautiful orchestra and conducted by Guy Noble, with soprano Elena Xanthoudakis, tenor Roy Best and special guest, jazz trumpet player James Morrison.
Now, I know what you're thinking, an odd choice of concert for the Punk Rock Zoologist, but I'm a lover of all music that inspires great passion in people, and this concert certainly did that. It was a fantastic night. The singing was excellent and the fusion of opera and Morrison's jazzy trumpet style worked brilliantly.
