Tuesday 20 March 2012: Craigentinny Marbles
Otherwise known as the Miller Mausoleum.
I know this astonishing edifice has been blipped before and very impressive it is, too, but I think the detail of the sculptures is so incredible that it should be seen in more detail. This one represents the Song Of Moses And Miriam. Sadly the presence of trees close by prevent a side-on photo but the light was perfect to illustrate the figures in relief. Must be seen in large.
Today's walk was down the Figgate Burn, which is the continuation of our Braid Burn from Duddingston golf course to the sea. We were most impressed with the park and the pond but, apart from a coot, didn't take blipworthy photos. After a coffee in the popular Beach House Cafe and a wander round the charity shops we walked back up the burn to the car, for a late lunch.
