the edges of my life

Bye and thanks for the licks

Said bye to Socks today - have cared for him for over 40 days now - he went from being a sweetie to a super aggressive outraged bear when darted with meds to back to a little sweetie who liked to steal a soft lick of my hand when eating his meds from a plastic yoghurt tub. He loves yoghurt, hessian sacks, old bike tyres and bananas. We tried to keep him as he has can have a better life with us - the rescue centre he is from is overcrowded and doesnt have the same level of care for the animals. But Socks does have a partner back there and we are working with them to increase their husbandry and veterinary skills. So off he went. I couldn't go as I was looking after our mittened bear Ngoc Ha..... But apparently as soon as he arrived in his transport cage his girlfriend got very excited - when let in together they had massive bear hugs... Awwww
And there's that nice gooey feeling :). The photos of their reunion are awesome - this image is him in his transport cage being loaded onto the truck.

Anyway - Ngoc Ha - my bear mittens only lasted a few hours- she got her feet free pretty quickly but aha I'd also cut and trimmed and bandaged her nails so that (and some happy drugs) slowed her down .... Today she looks like a little vagabond bear - a bit tatty (few bits of bandaging still attached) and worn - but hey she is in one piece still so that's a victory for today.
