Elwha River - Rebirth

Wow, what a great day. Spent today on the OP walking the lower Elwha to see some large logjams projects the Tribe has constructed and the progress of the dam removals. It's truly amazing and inspiring to see the work happening over there and the response of the river.

This is a picture of sediment being eroded by the river as it incises (deepens) within the old delta of Lake Aldwell (lower dam site). The amount of sediment within the delta is staggering to witness as are the size of the large cedar stumps being uncovered along the lake bottom. Nature is proving to be resilient if we give it a chance...
