Saturday 24 March 2012: H is for...hairy

After my fantastic night out, it took me ages to wind down and I eventually turned the light off at 3am. But the alarm had to be set for 9.15am, as I had a friend from the local sub-branch of our regional Crohn's and Colitis UK group arriving at 11am. We spent the next three hours printing, collating, enveloping, labelling and stamping 148 newsletters for the members of the local group.

I spotted this hairy chap in the garden earlier when I was taking some photos of George asleep on the bench at the bottom of the garden. I had to look it up. Apparently, it's a bee fly - a Bombylius major because it has a dark mark across the front half of its wings. I'd never have bothered to photograph it and look it up if it wasn't for Blipfoto! This is my H entry for pontycyclops' alphabet challenge.

Oh, it looks really hairy when you view it large!
