Saturday 24 March 2012: Caledonian Canal

It was a beautiful misty, warm, calm day today. Not a breath of wind. My two grandsons made sure that I was up bright and early and after our traditional pancake breakfast we had a lovely walk along the shore and stopped to throw lots of stones into the sea.

Once their parents collected them, Brendan and I set off for a lovely lunch out at North Kessock followed by a spot of shopping in Inverness. Once we had our fill of that we went to the Caledonian canal for a walk along the banks. This is the part of the canal that runs parallel and close to the river Ness. Strange to walk along the strip of land between the two and note the difference of water level. Also noticed water seeping into the river apparently from the canal at one point. The salmon fishing season is under way and a couple of angler where fishing on the river.

Brendan is in standing in the middle of the lock that I blipped.
