Paint Slingin'

Two ginoromous, monotonously grey concrete walls that separate Cabbagetown, an Atlanta in-town neighborhood, from a CSX train yard started looking a little less grey and a lot more beautiful this morning.

Living Walls a pro-public art foundation that brings international street artists to Atlanta is sponsoring two larger-than-life murals on Wylie Street, created by artists Trek Mathews and La Pandilla.

The newly commissioned artwork kicks-off Living Walls' 2012 programming, which will see installation of more than a dozen colorful murals across Atlanta's streetscape.

We enjoyed the rare opportunity this morning to watch the transformation of dreary concrete into a work of art in real time while we sipped mugsful of triple-strength muddy java and sank our collective teeth into a plate full of tasty coffee cakes.

Enjoy your SUN-day. It's slated to be a lovely 86 degrees today.

Huzzah!
